Founder & President
Nyssa Hansen is the Founder and President of the Sea to Sky Chapter of Women in Aviation International and currently serves on the Airworthiness team at Conair Aerial Firefighting, where she helps ensure the safe operation of aircraft during Canada’s intense wildfire season.
A graduate of the University of the Fraser Valley’s BBA Aviation program, Nyssa specialized in heavy jet transport and minored in economics. During her studies, she led research projects for Abbotsford International Airport, Kitchener-Waterloo Airport, and Flair Airlines—experiences that strengthened her technical foundation and expanded her understanding of the aviation industry from multiple angles.
Nyssa is also a licensed pilot with a clear goal: to fly for a commercial airline. Her love for aviation, though, goes beyond the technical. For Nyssa, the industry is as much about people as it is about aircraft. It’s the flight crews, engineers, and dispatchers working in sync. It’s the sense of possibility that hangs in the air as wheels lift off the runway. It's the weight of responsibility and the thrill of precision that keep her committed, even when the stakes are high and the skies are smoky.
Founding the BC Sea to Sky Chapter was her way of bringing the aviation community in British Columbia even closer together. She saw incredible strength in the women around her—and knew that by creating space for connection, mentorship, and visibility, the whole industry could move forward. Nyssa remains passionate about building a more inclusive, supportive, and inspiring aviation culture, both on the ground and in the skies.
